Good Friends, Good Food, and a Great Laugh

So I've been slow to the update.

4th of July was fabulous.
Can I say we just love Scotty-K and his girl H-Town. Too stinkin' cute. What's not to love about tennis playing, Freebirds eating, Galveston celebrating HOLIDAYS. Go galveston, I'll miss your lil' sun-shiny self.

Did I mention we also just recently met up w/ Prasanthe, his fab fiancee, and a wonderful Tyler for a weeknight datenight. How awesome is that? Thats right, I said a WEEK NIGHT date. loveit.

Aren't they just fab.

-------------------------------------

So my adventures as a nanny are hysterical. Not too long ago I was introduced to "Corrina, Corrina".

Dear Whoopi, I love you.

..needless to say its a blast to quote, "Pass 'em here Percy, I don't mind _____"

So a few weeks ago I met this cute lil girl Kaylie, who loves oreos, swings, babies, and did I say oreos?  I randomly overheard her cute lil convo with a few friends as follows: (she's sitting with two other girls)

Kay: Hey girls, any ya'll want some oreos?
Girl 1: Girrrl, you always got some food.
Girl 2: Yah, Kayli your mama always sends you food.
Girl 1: But, your nice girll, I'll take some oreos
Girl 2: Me too.
Kay: Well I can't help it, I'm just hungry and mama always makes sure I have something. I got crackers too.

Needless to say, Kaylie is the only girl sitting in the playground with her Princess and the Frog lunchbox on the slide.. ohh yah, and she was enjoying her cracker pack while riding the seesaw. mmmmhmm. A girl after my own heart. She offered to me too. Big whoop kaylie, you bring them oreos.

-------------------------------
Ohh ps.
If my little girl ever asks to where her princess costume to church, I'll gladly let her (as long as she wears the matching princess slippers = ) Shoutout to them classy sunbeams in their princess ballgowns. YOU.ARE.ADORABLE.

---------------------------------

I used to hate "UP"
It made me cry and be all emotional,
and now,
i
love
it.

RN Dalby and Days off

So it looks like I am becoming an RN...that's right, RN Dalby...which could lead to a PhD in Nursing, but as of right now it's more of an accerlerated BSN degree, which I intend to get in a year-and a half. That's right. I have high hopes.

I have dreams of working with pediatrics. I remember discussing muscle groups and their functions over the dinner table when I was 7... that's what happens when your mom is a chiropractor. One of my first "big" words was subluxation, and Josh's was contustion. Get the picture?

Mom teaches us by example. She is an incredible chiropractor, who can heal, nurture, and love, with the best of care. She's intelligent and talented, and I could dare to dream to be half' of that in my profession.

That's her. Yano, the stellar one on the Right, with perhaps the most intelligent 12 year-old you'll ever meet.

I want to be a pediatric nurse practitioner. I want to be there to immunize your babies when they first come in and I want to see them through to high school.  I want to educate children on how to care for their body, mind's, and spirits.. and I especially want to teach them how to "help themselves." I believe that education is key in health prevention. So, let me help you, help yourself.

P.S. When I'm older and Taylor and I are ready to serve missions, I want to do a service one..yano? The kind that lets me use this wealth of knowledge for some greater good.

I want to have the opportunity to travel during national disasters and be there to provide aid and care.
I also want babies that I can save//prevent from losing limbs seeing as my husband has a tendency to cut fingers...I have to prepare myself.

Side note, I have a few days off because my fam went on vacay. So my car decided to kill itself.

Convenient huh?

But as horrible as the experience may have been, it could have been a million times worse, have I told you I am grateful for loving husbands, fab uncles, honest mechanics, and helpful strangers. It pays to be nice to people. No joke.

The world could use a little more friendlies and a lot less grumps..but from my perspective, we're doing alright.

Oh, and fuego survived a resucitation. Hurray!

Tay works a million hours a week and I do stuff.
Ha. I love him.

Gators, PNYKLR, and Fruit Crisp

Our lives have been insane.  Hence, the lack of posting as of late.  For a quickie update, let's review:

Taylor works for a pest control company, (...we know. crazy right? for someone with sensitive skin, he works way hard for this duo of a fam)

I am a full-time nanny.

cch-check it out.

no.no. that's not them, but super cute fam, huh?  Mine's wayyy better looking = )

Anywhoo, Taylor has been accepted to the University of Florida.

Which could mean in like a month we move to the coast and spend the next 3-7 years tanning  studying away near Gainesville/Miami. Did I mention I LOVE DisneyWorld?

No biggie, but it's a definite plus for a Florida vote. Join us for a holiday and some tea-cups?
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The highlight of my life when not doing everything else, is twisting completely amazing family recipes. The newest: Apple Crisp which is now known as a universal Fruit Crisp...oatmeal, brown sugar, butter, apple, strawberry, peach, blackberry, and.. did I say butter?

------------------------------------------------------------------

Random side note, I spend most of my life these days in a car commuting because my nannying job is a million miles away.  Today I spent 45 of my 60 minutes behind a red mustang with the license plate: PNYKLR.  So to ammuse myself, I thought of all the acronyms it could possibly stand for.  I unfortunately settled for the first thing that came to mind : "PONY KILLER."
And then I suddenly had a whole 'nother perception of this red, mustang, driving fiend who has a side hobby of pony slaughtering.  Hmm. Harsh, I know, but it did occupy my time.  What else would you get out of that?

One Year Engagement and Counting...

A year ago yesterday, Taylor and I were engaged!  Crazy to think our lives have changed so much since then.  Time has just flown by; we're graduated, relocated, adapting to heat, praying for rain (I'm from Washington... I didn't know people did that = ), and loving life all the same.

Here are some cute pics for you to indulge in. go ahead.

A year ago yesterday:                               May 29, 2010

Is it just me, or does Sepia just make your life that much better?

I think I might adopt the tradition of taking pictures near/around anniversaries.  It's exciting to think what we'll look like 20 years down the road. Yano?  Having something fabulous to show some future babies.  Seriously, PINK Victoria Secret hoodies and leggings will never be out of style, right?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Because my husband's fabulous and I'm slow on the uptake, he got me this fabbb magazine for our proposeranuverserary.

Have I mentioned how much I love COOKING LIGHT.  It seriously is the best magg around.  It has the most delectable, simple, and quick recipes which are delic!  We have a habit of adapting and incorporating some of the better ones into our routine dishes.  It's kind of become a tradition, and it works wonderfully with our poor, college budget!  All the recipes include in season fruits/veggies. They're to die for.

If you don't have the most recent issue, then get it!

It won't disappoint.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Have I mentioned what a shock to your self-esteem being jobless induces?  It's horrific.  I'd like to consider myself a fairly educated, reliable, honest, and hard-working individual. Man oh' man.  Not having a job is tuff stuff.  It really has made me appreciate having a loving and supportive husband, and great family members! I have to continually remind myself that my self-worth is not dependent upon my status as a working-woman.  Does anyone else confuse those two?  Thank heavens for eternal perspectives.

...on a side note, I have had several interviews as of late and things look promising.  It's just the waiting process that can be so frustrating.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Other than that, life is pretty sweet for us Dalbys.  Tay works for one of the Fortune 500 co's, yano, the one called Wal-Mart, and I'm reading books for fun.  Can I say we're living the American dream?

The Blogger Bug

Looks like I've caught it. I've always been slightly jealous of those super-cute blogs people always put together.  Facebook just isn't cuttin' it for me these days... besides, I needed a family-friendly site. Yano, something fabulous I could show my future kiddos in years to come.... so here's to my blogger conversion!

P.S. Can I just say it is really hard to come up with some super cute, sassy, yet clever blog title.  It was either going to be, "This Much Plus a Lot of Bit" or Tay suggested, "When A Man Loves a Woman..." haha. Needless to say, you can see which one won.

This is the story of a couple of Dalbs.
We're pretty much in love and life couldn't be sweeter.

So, this will be a helter-skelter of random posts until I sort out all the nonsense I would like to regurgitate into a blog for the whole fam.

Enjoy,

Love a couple of Dalbs
